Higher Learning: Here I Am

Higher Learning – Here I Am is a collection of original writing, personal reflections and creative pieces created through the Higher Learning Performing Arts Program.

The book gives young people the opportunity to put their experiences, thoughts and imagination into their own words. Each piece represents a different perspective, a different story and a different voice.

This is more than a collection of monologues.

It is a record of young people finding their voice.

Following Voices – The Genesis of Colyton, Here I Am continues the Higher Learning Monologue Series and the belief that young people have something meaningful to say when given the space to express themselves.

Through writing and performance, Higher Learning is built around a simple idea:

Teach purpose, not curriculum.

These pages capture the creativity, honesty and individuality of the young people involved in the 2025 program, creating something they can look back on and say:

“I was here. This is my voice. This is my story.”
